I feel like in Brazil modeling is considered very often by young girls, several of my friends took a shot at modeling at some point in their life, I guess that’s why we have so many Brazilian top models!
What excites you about modeling?
Honestly, I’ve always loved to be center of attention, and since modeling envelops the photography industry and I’m majoring in photography it is an immensely appealing activity for me. What excites me the most is the ability to be both the model and photographer, I can plan out shoots that are entirely my own, where I envision them, style them, and then pose for myself, like some of Maya Guez’s work, I really admire her.
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in?
Most often, photographers like to put me in lingerie since I am quite curvy, but I actually love fashion and wish I could wear more clothes more often! I especially enjoy wearing things that would be completely inappropriate for the daily life, like costumes or absurdly high heels or big and explosive outfits, I can save jeans and t-shirts for when I’m in college, that is, if I wore jeans, I find them extremely uncomfortable.
What are your least favorites?
Thankfully I was never put in an outfit that I completely despised, but I would hate wearing real fur.
What kind of shoots would you like to work on in the future?
I can’t wait to get my own studio, so I can start putting together big production shoots for myself, surreal stuff like the work of David LaChapelle. But of course, I also enjoy working with other photographers that have sophisticated ideas going beyond photographing my behind in a thong. And of course, I am also looking forward to working on shoots that pay good!
Are there any other creative mediums you work in?
Definitely! At my college (Otis College of Art and Design) we are encouraged to work in different mediums before we focus on our major. I have taken drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, and digital classes and all of them helped develop my way of “seeing”. I wish to focus primarily in photography but in no way do I want to stop working with the other mediums, I actually enjoy the process of creating mix-media pieces the most.
What kind of music do you like?
In my play-list you would probably find one song from each of a thousand different artists. One band that I have been into quite more than a single song is Muse, and since my sister is an opera singer I have had the privilege to be exposed to the genre and I really enjoy watching it as a performance.
