Jon Mack Interview

Previous Next

What music first captured your ear and got you interested in music?

I don't remember the first thing that really captivated me really. I just always grew up singing or making a rhythm on something.

I have always been reactive to sounds and really dialed into music as being as much part of the living experience as breathing. I come from a family of non musicians so it's odd but it was just always natural for me.

Do you come from a background of training in the arts?

Oddly though, I do come from an artistic background. I've started acting in theater productions when I was 5 since my mother was a theater director and taught drama in both college and high school.

I guess you could say it's really in my blood. I trained at NYU Strasberg Institute and did experimental theater as well in college. Throughout the years, I have studied my craft with many teachers along the way. I also trained my voice starting in my teens up til now.

With music, I started playing seriously in bands when I was 16. It continued on from there.

As far as the music production and songwriting goes, I am mostly self taught...trial by fire.

How did you start working with your current band?

I created the concept of Auradrone and everything from the ground up. It's been my vision and my baby. I have found the collaborators I chose to work with just by being out in the scene and doing this for a while now. I had this vision for a while but until I really began for myself, it didn't happen. This falls under the lesson of staying true to our own passions and to ourselves. It's still mostly a guy's game so being a woman makes one tend to work harder to prove themselves...I feel that now I am finally beginning to do just that.

How did you first get interested in acting?

It was the early introduction to theater plus the fact that my father owned a video store...which are becoming obsolete now.

I grew up on film...literally. I can't remember a time when I wasn't entranced by the cinema or stage. I just always had no doubt about this being my path.

What might we have seen you in?

I had a small role in Saw 6 this past year. I also have a few SyFy channel films that have either just premiered or are about to premiere including Mongolian Death Worm which premiered recently.

Mandrake is the latest SyFy creature thriller that I have a nice role in. It premieres on SyFy September 11th so be sure to look out for it.

I've done a good amount of indie type film projects as well.

What projects do you have coming up in the future?

I am leaving very soon for Bulgaria to shoot an action thriller called Supertanker.

I am the lead and only female in the film so it should be a fun challenge. This role will be physical, as I play a  deep sea wet welder helping to save the world from bio weaponry leaking into the ocean.

I'm looking forward to stretching some boundaries.

What excites you about fetish modeling?

I've always been such a huge fan of dark glamour and the gothic romanticism.

I think a lot of it explores our sexuality from the subconscious perspective.  I  like exploring my shadow side too...it's actually healthy to a certain extent.

Do you think pinup and fetish are becoming part of the mainstream culture?

Absolutely. Has been for some time now.

What do you like to do for fun?

Anything that involves travel, meeting new friends and sharing new experiences.

I love museums, lightshows, anything consciousness expanding and at the same time entertaining.

I am a bit of a daredevil and take risks from time to time. I am fairly athletic so

physical activity is crucial in all of it's glorious forms...I'll leave it with that.

One last thing I want to mention is that I am currently in studio recording the second Auradrone

album. This album will be released in 2011 so be sure to keep an eye and ears out for it.

Anyone interested should visit the Auradrone Myspace, Facebook or Reverbnation pages for
